Metal vanes used at Hydro power stations to direct waterflow. Allweld won a tender to refurbish 24 of these guide vanes weighing 1.4ton each that was in operation for 40 years, this was a first for the power station as these vanes has never been refurbished before. The vanes were transported to Allweld’s workshop in Cape Town where the repair process took place with regular checks from the client. Although this was a very challenging procedure the job was completed ahead of schedule and is already in operation. The client is very pleased and satisfied and Allweld has now become a preferred supplier for this refurbishment with the next batch of 24 vanes due in March 2011.
